As a reaction to the European Commission’s inadequate response to the ONE OF US European Citizen Initiative, and in view of giving the concern for human dignity and human life a permanent voice in the EU and other international fora, the ONE OF US Federation was set up in 2014.
Membership in the ONE OF US Federation is open to all civil society groups and physical persons in Europe signing up the federation’s objectives:
- The unconditional recognition of the inherent and inalienable dignity of human beings as the source of freedoms and human and civil rights. As such, it must be inviolable and protected by all public authorities.
- The development of a Culture of Life in Europe, through the encouragement and support of activities that concern the defence of human life, particularly in its most vulnerable stages of development (conception and gestation, childhood, motherhood, disability, old age and end of life).
- In particular, the further pursuit and realisation of the objectives set out in the European Citizens’ Initiative ONE OF US.
The Federation pursues these objectives at the European and international level, in particular the EU, the Council of Europe, and the United Nations.
